ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Saturday accepted the resignation of Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon.

In a tweet uploaded on Saturday, President Arif Alvi said that he has accepted the resignation of Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon.

The President also nominated Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Speaker Syed Amjad Ali as the acting governor till the appointment of the new governor.

The post of GB governor GB fell vacant on April 19, 2022 after Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon had resigned from the office. Since his resignation the region is functioning without a governor.
