Six prisoners snatch police weapons, flee in Lodhran

Six under-trial prisoners fled from a prison van after injuring four policeman escorts and killing a fellow prisoner in Lodhran, police informed on Sunday.

According to police, the accused were being taken back to jail in a prison van after their production before a court when they snatched official weapons from the police escorts and opened fire.

“A fellow prisoner was killed in firing by them, and, four policemen sustained critical injuries,” police said and added a case that also included the murder and anti-terrorism clauses was registered against them.

Sources privy to the incident say that the prisoners took the advantage of the poor security arrangementsm, made their escape good.

Multan and Lodhran police were still unable to trace the six prisoners.
