Gillani, daughter barred from travelling abroad

ISLAMABAD: Authorities at the Islamabad International Airport stopped former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and his daughter from boarding the flight to Italy after the former’s name was discovered on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Sources said the two were scheduled to attend a conference.

Gillani was travelling on a diplomatic passport. When he showed his passport to the immigration staff, he was told he could not travel abroad as his name was on the no-travel list.

Gillani was put on the ECL at the request of the National Accountability Bureau in 2016. His case was sent to NAB in a reference pertaining to the appointment of the head of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
