Pak Army participates in UN peacekeeping exercise

A contingent of Pakistan armed forces participated in the multinational United Nations Peacekeeping Exercise “Shared Destiny-2021” at Queshan training base of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

The press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday stated, “Participation of Pakistani contingent, their level of expertise and Pakistan’s continued large scale contribution to UN peacekeeping operations was greatly appreciated by all participants.”

The exercise aimed at training for operations executed by UN peacekeepers in different missions. Approximately 1000 troops from Pakistan, China, Mongolia and Thailand were part of the 10-day-exercise that ended on September 15.

The exercise was based on a 2016 incident in Mali when Chinese peacekeepers were attacked and one of them was killed.
