Pakistan played ‘crucial’ role to achieve peaceful Afghanistan: Mazari

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan was playing a “crucial” role to achieve a peaceful and stable Afghanistan as no country in the region was in favour of prolonged conflict in the war-torn country, Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari said.

Talking to Pakistan Television, Mazari recalled Prime Minister Imran Khan had repeatedly underlined the fact that there was no military solution to the conflict, and that a political solution achieved through dialogue was the only way forward.

Islamabad was making all-out efforts for peace in Afghanistan, as well as in the region, she said, recalling that these efforts were also earning global recognition.

The minister further said over 1.4 million registered and unregistered Afghan refugees were residing in the country and world needed to consider Pakistan’s fragile economic situation.

She urged the rights organisations and regional players to come forward to help the Afghan nation if they were serious in establishing lasting peace in the region.
