 SWAT: Three tourists were killed and seven others injured after a boat carrying tourists capsized in Saifullah Lake in Kalam, Upper Swat, on Wednesday, triggering a large-scale rescue operation, police and Rescue 1122 officials said.

A Rescue 1122 district officer said rescuers launched an immediate emergency response after receiving a distress call. Rescue teams rushed to the site with ambulances and began an extensive rescue operation without delay.

He said it was initially feared that several people were missing after the boat accident, but as the rescue operation progressed, it was confirmed that three people had died while seven others sustained injuries.

According to Rescue 1122 and police, all the tourists involved in the accident belonged to Punjab province.

Rescue 1122 teams reached the remote accident site, administered first aid to the injured and shifted them, along with the bodies of the deceased, to Kalam Hospital in ambulances for treatment and completion of legal formalities.

In a separate incident, a woman lost her life after being swept away by a flash flood while accompanying her daughter to a seminary in Puran tehsil of Shangla district.

According to local residents, the incident occurred in the Gumiar Machkandi Khor area when the woman attempted to cross a rain-fed stream with her daughter. A sudden surge in floodwater swept both of them away.

Residents immediately launched rescue efforts and managed to save the girl, while the woman was carried away by the strong current.

Rescue 1122 teams, along with the tehsil administration and local volunteers, reached the site and launched a search and rescue operation. The girl was recovered in an injured condition, provided first aid and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

After hours of searching, rescuers recovered the woman's body from the floodwaters. It was later handed over to her family after completion of legal formalities.
