  ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday praised the government’s economic team for formulating what he described as a relief-oriented federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year, saying the financial plan reflects the government’s commitment to supporting salaried individuals, businesses, and the wider public despite fiscal constraints.

The prime minister particularly commended the Ministry of Finance and acknowledged the contributions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, the Finance Secretary, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the entire economic team in preparing the budget, according to a Prime Minister’s Office news release.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government had fulfilled its pledge to provide meaningful relief to the salaried class, the business community, and ordinary citizens through the new budget.

He described the efforts of the economic team as commendable and appreciated their dedication in formulating a balanced financial plan under challenging economic conditions.

“The benefits of improving economic indicators will be extended to every citizen of the country,” the prime minister said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring that economic recovery translates into tangible improvements in the lives of the people.

Members of the economic team welcomed the prime minister’s appreciation and observed that, despite limited fiscal space and financial resources, every possible effort had been made to maximize public relief in the budget.

They thanked the prime minister for his active involvement throughout the budget preparation process and acknowledged his consistent directives to prioritize public welfare, engage extensively with stakeholders, and personally oversee discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to secure measures aimed at providing relief to the public.

According to the team, numerous meetings were held under the prime minister’s guidance, while consultations were conducted with representatives from various sectors to help formulate a balanced budget responsive to public needs, particularly those of vulnerable and underprivileged segments of society.

The economic team further reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its efforts under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership to promote Pakistan’s economic development, stability, and long-term prosperity.
