Islamabad MoU, Lucerne talks underscore power of dialogue, diplomacy: FO

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said on Thursday that recent diplomatic developments involving the United States and Iran had strengthened its belief in dialogue as the best route to resolving conflicts peacefully.

Speaking at the weekly media briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and the Lucerne Summit had reaffirmed “our faith in dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means for peaceful settlement of disputes and conflicts”.

Andrabi also said Pakistan welcomed what he described as positive acknowledgment from different countries, partners and members of the international community over its role in encouraging regional peace, dialogue and efforts aimed at lowering tensions.

He said that response reflected international confidence in Pakistan and its commitment to promoting talks, peace, security and stability in the region and beyond.

“Such recognition reflects the international community’s trust in Pakistan, as well as Pakistan’s commitment to advancing dialogue, peace, security and stability across the region and beyond,” he added.
