ATC charges 55 TLP workers in Shahdara violence case

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court has indicted 55 workers of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) in a case linked to violence in Shahdara, including murder, attacks on police and arson.

ATC Judge Shahid Sikandar framed charges during proceedings on Thursday. The accused denied the allegations and chose to contest the case.

During the hearing, the prosecution told the court it had already submitted the challan in the case, which is registered at Shahdara police station. The matter relates to violent protests in the Shahdara area.

After indicting the accused, the court called prosecution witnesses to record their statements and adjourned further proceedings until June 24.
