Strong winds to continue in Karachi until Tuesday, Met Office says

KARACHI: Stronger-than-usual winds are expected to persist in Karachi through Tuesday, with the weather likely to turn relatively milder as sea breezes pick up, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department's Early Warning Centre.

The department said moderate to strong winds from the southwest are likely to continue across the city, with speeds reaching up to 50 kilometres per hour. It added that some areas of the metropolis could also experience dusty gusts during this period.

The forecast says the wind pattern may bring some respite from the heat over the next three days by causing a slight drop in temperature. Maximum temperatures are expected to stay between 34°C and 36°C, resulting in comparatively less harsh conditions than usual.

Humidity is likely to remain elevated in the morning at around 75 per cent before easing to nearly 60 per cent by evening. Despite the windy conditions, the heat index is expected to stay balanced because of the coastal breeze effect, the Met Office said.
