Two suspects held over mobile phone thefts at weddings

LAHORE: Police have arrested two suspected members of a group accused of stealing mobile phones at wedding functions and other public gatherings, officials said.

According to police, Harbanspura police took into custody the alleged gang leader, Ali Raza, along with his accomplice Ahsan. The suspects were said to be part of an organised group linked to repeated theft incidents.

Police said the two men had been involved in at least 45 cases. Officials also said 11 stolen mobile phones and an illegal weapon were recovered from their possession, and separate cases had been registered against them.

Investigators further claimed that during initial interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing phones from wedding ceremonies as well as other locations.
