MPA Chaddhar booked in cheque bounce case

LAHORE: Police have registered three cases against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chaddhar over alleged cheque dishonour amounting to Rs270 million.

According to the FIRs lodged at Defence-A police station on the complaint of Mah Rukh Arif, the matter relates to a property transaction in which three cheques worth Rs90 million each were issued and later returned unpaid due to insufficient funds.

The complainant stated in the FIRs that she is a cancer patient and had approached Chaddhar and Akbar Khan for the sale of her property on Davis Road. She alleged that a deal for the property, valued at around Rs600 million, had been finalised.

The FIRs said the suspect issued three cheques of Rs90 million each as part of the payment arrangement. However, when the cheques were presented for encashment on their due dates, all three were dishonoured because the account did not have enough funds.
