Actor Momina Iqbal seeks FIR against PML-N lawmaker over harassment allegations
Actor Momina Iqbal has sought registration of an FIR in Lahore against PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar, alleging blackmail, harassment and death threats. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the matter would be handled on merit and according to law.

LAHORE: Actor and model Momina Iqbal on Friday approached Chung Police seeking registration of a first information report against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Saqib Chadhar, accusing him of blackmail, harassment and issuing death threats.
According to her application, Iqbal alleged that the provincial lawmaker had been making threatening calls to her and her fiance. She stated that after she declined his marriage proposal, he became abusive when it emerged that he was already married to two women. She further alleged that he later began blackmailing her.
In the complaint, she also referred to WhatsApp messages and video calls allegedly received from the suspect. She said similar threatening messages were also sent to her sister’s mobile phone.
Reports said Iqbal went to Chung Police Station with her lawyers, where she met Station House Officer Faheem Imdad and briefed him on her complaint.
Maryam Nawaz issues warning
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also commented on the matter, warning that any attempt to use political pressure, misuse influence, or exploit a woman by threatening to release personal content in the case involving Momina Iqbal and Saqib Chadhar would face strict action.
In a post on X on Friday evening, the chief minister said the matter was a personal issue and would be handled strictly on merit and in line with the law.
Earlier social media allegations
In an earlier social media post in which she tagged the PML-N leadership, Iqbal said she had been facing online harassment, cyberbullying and death threats for a long time. She alleged that the conduct in question had caused severe mental stress and trauma to both her and her family. In that post, she did not publicly identify the MPA.
Iqbal said she had repeatedly taken the matter to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency and the Federal Investigation Agency, but no action was taken.
She stated:
A member of the provincial assembly belonging to the PML-N has been threatening me for an extended period. I repeatedly reported the matter to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency and the Federal Investigation Agency, but no action was taken.
She also alleged that instead of her complaints being addressed, efforts were made to suppress them.
In the same post, she said:
Instead of ensuring justice, attempts were allegedly made to suppress my complaints. Even individuals associated with the office of the chief minister tried to discourage me and silence the issue rather than allowing a fair investigation.
The case has drawn public attention after the actor’s allegations on social media and her subsequent move to seek police action through a formal complaint.
