Three suspects in attack on Punjab MPA Ayub Gadhi killed in Toba Tek Singh raid

LAHORE: Three suspects linked to the attack on former provincial minister and PML-N MPA Ayub Gadhi were killed during a raid in Rajana town of Toba Tek Singh district, a spokesperson for the Crime Control Department (CCD) said on Monday.

The spokesperson said the CCD team in Toba Tek Singh carried out the raid to arrest the suspects. According to the department, the men opened indiscriminate fire when they saw CCD personnel, prompting return fire from the raiding team.

The CCD spokesperson said three suspects were killed in the exchange, while two others were arrested. The spokesperson added that the slain suspects were involved in last month's attack on Gadhi's dera, in which the lawmaker was injured and four of his companions were killed.

At the time of that incident, the Toba Tek Singh district police officer had said Gadhi was shifted to the DHQ Hospital for treatment. Following the shooting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered inquiries. The prime minister directed authorities to identify those responsible and bring them to justice, while the chief minister expressed condolences to the families of those killed and instructed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured.
