BEIRUT: A Lebanese army officer and his driver were killed in an Israeli air strike on a military vehicle in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese army and the country's state-run National News Agency.
The army said on X that several Lebanese soldiers, including an officer, were killed when the strike hit a military vehicle on the Khardali-Nabatieh road. It did not specify the exact number of soldiers killed.
Lebanon's National News Agency said the officer held the rank of brigadier general and that he and his driver were killed when their four-wheel-drive vehicle was targeted on the Khardali-Jarmaq road in Nabatieh.
The strike came as Israeli attacks in Lebanon continue despite a fragile ceasefire and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at keeping the truce from collapsing. According to Lebanese officials, more than 3,550 people have been killed and over 10,800 wounded in Israeli attacks in Lebanon since March 2.
