QUETTA: District authorities in Quetta have sealed 68 illegal mini-petrol pumps and arrested 52 people in a crackdown against the sale of Iranian petrol, according to an official statement issued by the district administration.
The operation was carried out on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Quetta Meherullah Badini. The district administration said the campaign was led by Assistant Commissioner City Muhammad Aamir Hamza, Special Magistrate Ijaz Hussain Khosa, Assistant Commissioner Sariab Musawar Ahmed Achakzai, Assistant Commissioner Sadr Muhammad Yousuf Hashmi, Assistant Commissioner Kuchlak Captain (retired) Kabir Mazari, and Special Magistrate Haseeb Sardar.
According to the statement, the 52 arrested individuals were later sent to jail. The administration said the action targeted those involved in illegal fuel sales and charging high prices.
The move has also drawn criticism from members of the public, who have called for action against officials they say delayed responding to complaints for two weeks. The district administration said it would continue indiscriminate action against people involved in the illegal fuel trade and overcharging.
