Authorities seal seven petrol pumps in Islamabad for profiteering

ISLAMABAD: Authorities in the federal capital have sealed seven petrol pumps for overcharging customers, according to a statement released by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration.

The action was taken as part of an ongoing crackdown against profiteering by fuel stations. Officials stated that the sealed pumps were found to be selling petrol and diesel at prices higher than the rates set by the government. The ICT administration assured the public that there are sufficient fuel reserves in the city, with 2.59 million litres of petrol and 1.58 million litres of diesel currently available in stock.

According to the official statement, inspections were carried out at various filling stations across Islamabad. The administration emphasized its commitment to ensuring that fuel is sold at government-approved rates and warned that strict action would be taken against violators.

The ICT administration further urged citizens to report any instances of overcharging or irregularities at petrol pumps. Officials reiterated their resolve to protect consumer rights and maintain price stability in the city.

The crackdown comes amid concerns from residents about potential fuel shortages and price manipulation. However, authorities have reassured the public that the current fuel stocks are sufficient to meet demand, and that monitoring efforts will continue to prevent profiteering.
