Three excise officials were abducted after armed men attacked a temporary checkpost on the Dalbandin-Taftan Highway in Chagai, police sources said. Authorities have launched a search operation and investigation.

QUETTA: Three excise officials were abducted after armed men attacked a temporary excise checkpost on the Dalbandin-Taftan Highway in Balochistan's Chagai district, according to police sources.
The sources said the incident took place on Monday evening when around 30 armed assailants surrounded the checkpost, where officials were carrying out routine checking. The attackers allegedly held the personnel present there at gunpoint before taking away three officials.
Police sources said the assailants also seized two official vehicles and weapons from the site. After being informed of the attack, police and other law enforcement personnel reached the area and sealed it off.
A search operation has been launched to trace the attackers and secure the recovery of the abducted officials, the sources said. They added that an investigation was under way to determine the identity of the attackers and the route they used to escape.
