Bilawal asks GB voters to give PPP a heavy mandate at Ghizer rally

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Thursday urged voters in Gilgit-Baltistan to hand his party a heavy mandate and secure it a majority, saying this was needed to protect the region’s rights.

He made the remarks while addressing a public rally in Ghizer, where the PPP and other political parties have intensified campaigning in recent days ahead of the polls.

Referring to the previous Gilgit-Baltistan elections, Bilawal said the PPP had won nine seats and claimed that other seats had been stolen. He told the gathering that this time no one would be able to take seats away from voters, and said all three seats of Ghizer would go to the party.

Bilawal said the PPP wanted a heavy majority in Gilgit-Baltistan not for himself but for the people, so that together they could complete what he described as the incomplete mission of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto in the region.
