Pakistan’s diplomatic role in US-Iran engagement
Pakistan has recently emerged as a key facilitator in sensitive diplomatic efforts, positioning itself as an “honest broker” amid sharply polarised positions between Washington and Tehran.
Under this evolving diplomatic track, Pakistan played a mediatory role in securing a conditional ceasefire, followed by efforts to create space for structured dialogue between the two sides. Islamabad subsequently hosted high-level negotiations involving US and Iranian delegations in an effort to reduce tensions and explore pathways toward de-escalation, although differences persisted on core issues.
