Trump says Pakistan requested extension of Iran ceasefire
Trump said Pakistan urged the US to extend the Iran ceasefire to allow diplomacy. The US agreed to continue the pause while awaiting Tehran’s response, warning action could resume if talks fail.

US President Donald Trump said the ceasefire involving Iran was extended following a request from Pakistan, while indicating that military action could still resume if negotiations fail.
He said Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir, urged Washington to allow more time for diplomatic efforts before any further escalation.
Trump stated that the United States agreed to continue the ceasefire while awaiting a unified response from Tehran, though American forces would remain prepared if talks break down.
Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator in efforts aimed at easing tensions between Iran and the United States, with Islamabad hosting high-level discussions between the two sides in recent weeks.
The US president also suggested that another round of negotiations could take place soon, with Islamabad expected to continue playing a role in the diplomatic process.
Despite the temporary pause in hostilities, disagreements remain over Iran’s nuclear programme and sanctions, while regional tensions continue to affect security and energy markets.
