Petroleum levy tops Rs1.2 trillion in 9MFY27
Official documents show the government collected more than Rs1.2 trillion in petroleum levy in the first nine months of the current fiscal year, along with over Rs35 billion under the Climate Support Levy.

ISLAMABAD: The government collected more than Rs1.2 trillion from consumers through the petroleum levy during the first nine months of the current fiscal year, according to official documents.
The records show monthly petroleum levy collections of Rs145 billion in July 2025, Rs115 billion in August, Rs111 billion in September, Rs145 billion in October, Rs151 billion in November, Rs157 billion in December, Rs124 billion in January 2026, Rs120 billion in February and Rs137 billion in March.
Officials also disclosed that more than Rs35 billion had been recovered so far from consumers under the Climate Support Levy on petroleum products. According to the same documents, total collections under this head are projected to reach Rs51 billion by the end of the current fiscal year in June 2026.
Power consumers also paid over Rs1.9 trillion in taxes
Separate official records of power distribution companies showed that electricity consumers across the country paid more than Rs1.9 trillion in taxes over the last three fiscal years.
According to the documents, consumers paid Rs507 billion in taxes during fiscal year 2022-23. The amount increased to Rs698 billion in fiscal year 2023-24 and exceeded Rs700 billion in the last fiscal year.
Among the distribution companies, Lahore Electric Supply Company recorded the highest collection over the three-year period, recovering more than Rs532 billion. Multan Electric Power Company followed with Rs323 billion, while Faisalabad Electric Supply Company collected Rs307 billion.
Gujranwala Electric Power Company recovered Rs240 billion in taxes from consumers during the same period. Islamabad Electric Supply Company, according to the official record, recovered Rs2.32 trillion.
The documents further showed that Peshawar Electric Supply Company collected Rs151 billion, while Hyderabad Electric Supply Company recovered Rs57.58 billion. Sukkur Electric Power Company collected Rs34.46 billion, Quetta Electric Supply Company recovered Rs24.28 billion and Tribal Electric Supply Company collected Rs1.55 billion in taxes from consumers over the last three years.
The official figures outline the scale of revenue raised from fuel and electricity consumers through levies and taxes during the periods covered by the documents.
