LAHORE: The City Traffic Police Lahore has extended operating hours at all licensing offices in the provincial capital, with centres now remaining open from 8am to 12 midnight, in a move aimed at improving public facilitation and easing congestion.
The announcement was made by newly appointed Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Sherazi during a high-level meeting held to review the performance of licensing centres in the city.
According to officials, Lahore currently has 12 licensing testing centres and 33 licence facilitation centres that are providing driving licence and related services to residents across the city.
Review meeting held on licensing services
The meeting was attended by the DSP Licensing, the in-charges of all licensing centres and other relevant staff.
During the session, the performance of the licensing centres was reviewed, while the extension in office timings was announced as part of efforts to improve service delivery for citizens seeking licences and related facilities.
Officials said the revised schedule will apply to all licensing offices across Lahore. Under the new timings, members of the public will be able to access services from early morning until midnight.
The city’s licensing network includes both testing centres and facilitation centres, which together handle driving licence issuance and associated public services. Officials said the expanded hours are intended to help manage public turnout and reduce pressure at service points.
The decision comes as the traffic police administration seeks to improve access to licensing services in Lahore through longer operating hours at centres spread across the city.
Officials said the city’s 12 licensing testing centres and 33 licence facilitation centres will continue providing services under the updated timetable.
The extension of office hours was announced in the presence of senior licensing officials and centre staff during the performance review meeting chaired by the CTO.
