Hyderabad Kingsmen choose to bowl first against Multan Sultans in PSL 11 match

KARACHI: Hyderabad Kingsmen won the toss and decided to field first against Multan Sultans in the 33rd match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 at the National Bank Stadium on Wednesday.

The fixture is only the second meeting between the two sides in the tournament. In their first encounter, the 2021 champions Multan Sultans beat Hyderabad Kingsmen by six wickets.

Teams named for the match

Hyderabad Kingsmen named Marnus Labuschagne as captain and Hassan Khan as vice-captain in their squad for the contest. The rest of the Kingsmen squad comprises Usman Khan, Akif Javed, Maaz Sadaqat, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Ali, Kusal Perera, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Shayan Jahangir, Glenn Maxwell, Hammad Azam, Riley Meredith, Sharjeel Khan, Asif Mehmood, Hunain Shah, Rizwan Mehmood, Saad Ali, Tayyab Arif, Maheesh Theekshana and Ahmed Hussain.

Multan Sultans, meanwhile, are being led by Ashton Turner, with Shan Masood serving as vice-captain. Their squad includes Mohammad Nawaz, Shehzad Gul, Faisal Akram, Imran Randhawa, Arafat Minhas, Sahibzada Farhan, Steve Smith, Peter Siddle, Tabraiz Shamsi, Lachlan Shaw, Delano Potgieter, Josh Philippe, Momin Qamar, Muhammad Awais Zafar, Muhammad Shahzad, Arshad Iqbal, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Muhammad Ismail and Atizaz Habib Khan.

Second meeting of the sides

Wednesday’s game brings the two teams together for just the second time. Their maiden meeting ended in a Multan Sultans victory, with the former champions securing a six-wicket win.

The match is part of the ongoing PSL 11 schedule at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, where both teams are contesting another key league-stage fixture.

Hyderabad Kingsmen’s decision at the toss means Multan Sultans will bat first, while Kingsmen will begin the match in the field.

Both squads feature a mix of local and overseas players, with Kingsmen captained by Labuschagne and Sultans led by Turner for this contest.
