Six Palestinians, including two children, killed in Gaza amid ceasefire violations

CAIRO: At least six Palestinians, including two children, were killed in separate incidents across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, in what Palestinian authorities described as the latest breach of the US-brokered ceasefire.

The Palestinian interior ministry said four people, including a child, were killed in a strike that hit a police vehicle in Gaza City. A police officer was among those killed, while nine bystanders were wounded, some of them critically.

Medics and witnesses said the strike on Nafaq Street in Gaza City set the police vehicle on fire, prompting residents and rescue workers to search the area for casualties. Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City confirmed that it had received the bodies of those killed.

In another incident in the north of the territory near Jabalia, health authorities and the family of three-year-old Yahya Al-Malahi said Israeli troops killed the child.

Also in northern Gaza, the Israeli military said it had killed a man whom it claimed had approached the armistice line with Hamas, describing him as an armed militant. Health authorities confirmed that a man was killed in the area but did not provide further details.

Palestinian officials said Israel has stepped up attacks on police and security personnel in Gaza. Hamas officials in the enclave said dozens of members of the group’s police and security forces have been killed since October, and accused Israel of seeking to spread chaos and disorder.

Ceasefire violations detailed in official report

The ceasefire, which began last October, brought an end to two years of full-scale war. However, Israeli troops remain in control of a depopulated area covering well over half of Gaza, while Hamas continues to govern the remaining narrow coastal strip.

Palestinians have also said Israeli forces have been widening the areas under their control.

A report issued on Tuesday by the Gaza Government Media Office said Israeli forces had committed widespread violations of the ceasefire agreement, including gunfire incidents, bombardments and restrictions on the delivery of aid.

More than six months after the ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025, Israeli forces had carried out 2,400 violations of the US-brokered agreement, resulting in 754 Palestinian deaths and 2,100 injuries.

The violations included 921 incidents of gunfire, 1,109 bombardment or targeting incidents, 97 cases in which military vehicles entered residential areas, and 273 incidents involving the demolition of homes and other structures.

754 people were killed during this period, including 312 children, women and elderly people, and added that 99 per cent of those killed were civilians. A further 2,100 people were reported injured, including more than 1,096 from vulnerable groups.

The Gaza Government Media Office said all of the injuries occurred in residential areas, away from what it called the yellow line demarcation. It also said 50 Palestinians were detained during the period and were abducted from residential areas.
