Israeli strikes kill five in Gaza despite ongoing ceasefire

GAZA CITY: Israeli attacks killed at least five Palestinians in Gaza early on Saturday, including four members of one family, according to medical staff and eyewitnesses, in the latest violence reported despite an October 2025 ceasefire.

A medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital said an air strike hit a home near Al-Tayaran junction in Gaza City, killing two children and their parents. Witnesses identified the dead as Hussein Safadi, Rana Safadi, and their daughters Zina, 6, and Lana, 13, and said the family home was struck at dawn. Several relatives and people in nearby houses were also injured, according to the same accounts.

In a separate incident, witnesses said an Israeli drone targeted pedestrians near Al-Saftawi roundabout in northern Gaza City. A Palestinian man was killed and a woman sustained moderate injuries in that strike.

The latest attacks were reported amid what Gaza's Health Ministry has described as repeated violations of the truce that came into force in October 2025. According to the ministry, those violations had killed 1,007 Palestinians and injured 3,165 others as of Thursday. The ceasefire followed Israel's two-year war on Gaza, in which more than 73,000 Palestinians were killed, over 173,000 injured, and about 90% of civilian infrastructure was destroyed.
