Proposed FY27 budget lays base for faster sustainable growth, Aurangzeb tells NA

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb told the National Assembly on Saturday that the proposed budget for the next fiscal year would provide the basis for building on the sustainable growth recorded over the past two years.

Speaking after the lower house earlier took up 140 recommendations from the Senate on the budget, the minister said lawmakers had shared their views during the debate and that some proposals also carried reservations. He said the government had received clear feedback from both inside and outside parliament that the budget was broadly seen as positive and supportive of growth.

Aurangzeb said the budget would help accelerate the momentum achieved in the previous two years. In his remarks, he thanked members of the assembly for taking part in the budget debate and also acknowledged Opposition Leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai for his participation.

He further thanked Saleem Mandviwala and Naveed Qamar, who head the Senate and National Assembly standing committees on finance, respectively, for their role in the budget process.
