Husband named main suspect in Kuchlak woman’s murder case

KARACHI: Police say they have solved the murder case of a woman whose body was found in a rainwater drain in Kuchlak, a suburb of Quetta, within a few days of the discovery.

According to police, the body, later identified as Nosheen, was recovered from the Killi Kater nullah on April 2. Officials said the body had been wrapped in a black blanket when it was found.

Police said that after receiving information about the incident, the Crime Scene Unit was sent to the site. Evidence was collected from the location, while the body was shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem examination. A case was then registered and the inquiry was handed over to the Serious Crime Investigation Wing.

A special investigation team was subsequently constituted under the supervision of SSP Serious Crime Investigation Wing Dr Sami Malik. Police said the team carried out a detailed review of the crime scene, collected multiple pieces of evidence and used CCTV footage in an effort to identify those involved.

Investigation and arrests

Police said the investigation relied on modern technology, strategy and professional methods, leading to the arrest of an alleged accomplice, Noor Muhammad.

During interrogation, police said, Noor Muhammad disclosed that Nosheen had been shot dead by her husband, Sakhi Dad, following a domestic dispute.

According to the investigation, the woman’s body was wrapped in a blanket immediately after the killing, placed inside a sack and then transported in a vehicle before being dumped in the rainy drain.

The case had initially been treated as a blind murder after the body was recovered. Police said the investigation moved quickly after forensic and other evidence was gathered from the scene.

Officials have described the husband as the main suspect in the case, while the arrest of Noor Muhammad was presented as a key development in tracing the circumstances surrounding the killing and disposal of the body. They said that during interrogation, Noor Muhammad revealed that the victim, Nosheen, was shot dead by her husband, Sakhi Dad, over a domestic dispute.

Police said the body was found wrapped in a black blanket in the drain area of Killi Kater nullah, and that the subsequent investigation linked the killing to events that took place before the body was discarded.

The investigation was conducted by the Serious Crime Investigation Wing after the initial police response, evidence collection and post-mortem process were completed.
