Third Pakistani killed in UAE identified; body to be repatriated to Peshawar

ABU DHABI: The third Pakistani national killed in the United Arab Emirates has been identified, and arrangements are being made to repatriate the body to Peshawar.

The death occurred amid escalating tensions in the region, with the Fujairah media office reporting that smoke was seen rising in the Fujairah oil industry zone, caused by debris following the interception of a drone by air defences. The incident took place on March 14, 2026, in the context of the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran.

Pakistani casualties in UAE

The identified individual is the third Pakistani national confirmed to have lost their life in the UAE during the recent hostilities. While the identities of the first two Pakistanis killed had been confirmed earlier, the third victim's identification has now been completed, paving the way for the repatriation of the body to the victim's hometown of Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The repatriation process is expected to be coordinated between Pakistani diplomatic missions in the UAE and relevant authorities on both sides. The Pakistani community in the UAE, one of the largest expatriate populations in the Gulf state, has been closely following developments as the security situation in the region remains tense.

Situation in Fujairah

The Fujairah emirate, home to a major oil industry zone and a strategically significant port, witnessed the aftermath of air defence operations as drones were intercepted over the area. The Fujairah media office confirmed that the smoke visible in the oil industry zone was the result of falling debris from the intercepted drone rather than a direct strike on oil infrastructure.

The developments have raised concerns among the large Pakistani diaspora residing in the UAE, which numbers in the hundreds of thousands and includes workers across various sectors of the Emirati economy. Pakistani authorities have been monitoring the situation closely to ensure the safety and welfare of their nationals in the Gulf country.

The repatriation of the deceased Pakistani's remains to Peshawar is being facilitated as efforts continue to account for the wellbeing of all Pakistani citizens in affected areas of the UAE.
