QUETTA: The principal of an agricultural college in Quetta has been suspended with immediate effect after Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti took serious notice of the reported cutting of trees within the college premises. The action follows the circulation of videos and photographs depicting the incident on social media platforms.

Chief Minister Bugti described the alleged felling of trees as a violation of environmental protection principles and contrary to the policies of the provincial government. He emphasized that the illegal removal of trees would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

According to officials, the suspension of the college principal is intended to facilitate a transparent and impartial inquiry into the matter. The chief minister has directed the relevant authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation to establish the facts, identify those responsible, and determine whether there was any negligence, mismanagement, or breach of rules at any level.

CM Bugti stated, “Illegal felling of trees will not be tolerated under any circumstances.” He further instructed that the inquiry should be thorough and that those found responsible should be held accountable as per the law.

Officials noted that the inquiry aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding the tree cutting and to ensure that environmental protection standards are upheld. The provincial government has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the environment and enforcing its policies regarding the conservation of trees and green spaces.

The incident has drawn attention on social media, with videos and images prompting public concern over environmental practices at educational institutions. The outcome of the inquiry will determine any further action against those involved in the incident.
