ISLAMABAD: Amid ongoing concerns about fuel shortages, four ships carrying petrol and diesel have reached Pakistan, according to a statement released by the Port Qasim Authority (PQA) on Tuesday.
The PQA detailed that the marine tanker Torm Damini arrived on March 8 and has already offloaded 37,000 tonnes of diesel, replenishing the country's fuel reserves. Three additional vessels carrying petrol are currently at Port Qasim, with berthing scheduled over the coming days.
The statement specified that the tanker Nave Atropos, which is transporting 50,000 tonnes of petrol, is scheduled to berth on Wednesday. The unloading process for this vessel is expected to take approximately 30 hours. Following this, the tanker Spruce 2, carrying 55,000 tonnes of petrol, is set to berth on Thursday.
A fourth ship, Sea Clipper, is expected to berth on March 13 or 14, bringing in 34,000 tonnes of petrol. The PQA also noted that another vessel carrying petrol for the state-owned Pakistan State Oil is anticipated to arrive soon, although further details were not provided in the statement.
These arrivals come as Pakistan faces global fuel supply constraints, with authorities working to ensure adequate stocks across the country. The berthing and offloading schedules are being closely managed to maintain a steady supply of fuel and address any potential shortages.
The PQA emphasized its commitment to facilitating the timely arrival and discharge of fuel cargoes, aiming to stabilize the domestic market amid international supply challenges.
