Pakistan Engages in Diplomatic Efforts Amid Middle East Tensions: Dar

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated on Monday that Pakistan is undertaking “full diplomatic efforts” to help de-escalate the situation in the Middle East following recent attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. Speaking at a media briefing in Islamabad, Dar emphasized the seriousness of the current regional environment.

Heightened Regional Tensions

According to Dar, the recent escalation has “significantly heightened tensions in an already volatile and fragile environment.” He noted that Pakistan is actively reaching out and requesting all parties involved to work towards de-escalation.

Dar highlighted that these developments have occurred at a time when diplomatic initiatives were ongoing to find a peaceful and negotiable solution. “Serious developments had taken place at a time when diplomatic efforts were underway to reach a peaceful and negotiable … solution,” he said. He further remarked, “But what triggered all of a sudden engulfed … almost all countries.”

Prime Minister’s Engagements

The Deputy Prime Minister recalled Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Austria, where discussions were held with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Dar described the feedback from these engagements as “positive.”

He also referred to a high-level meeting chaired by the prime minister on Sunday, which reviewed the regional environment and the ongoing situation. Details of the meeting’s outcomes were not specified in the briefing.

Call for De-escalation

Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to diplomatic solutions and emphasized the importance of restraint and dialogue among all parties. He stressed that Pakistan continues to urge all stakeholders to avoid further escalation and to seek peaceful resolutions through diplomatic channels.
