Ex-Army Chief General (R) Bajwa currently under medical care at CMH: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Former chief of army staff General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa is undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Rawalpindi after sustaining injuries in a fall at his residence.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday, General Bajwa is currently under medical care at CMH.

The retired general reportedly slipped in the washroom of his home around 4:30am on Tuesday, resulting in multiple injuries. He was immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment.

Family sources said he suffered a head injury and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where doctors are closely monitoring his condition.

General Bajwa, a recipient of the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military), served as Pakistan’s 16th Chief of Army Staff from November 2016 to November 2022. He was appointed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and was later granted a three-year extension in tenure during the government of former prime minister Imran Khan.
