Pigeon snatches gold chain from jewellery shop

NAGAUR: A jewellery shop in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district witnessed an unusual scene when a pigeon flew off with a newly crafted gold chain, briefly triggering panic in the local bullion market before the ornament was recovered.

The incident occurred in Degana town, where craftsmen were working on gold items on the upper floor of a shop in the busy marketplace. According to traders, the bird suddenly entered the workspace and swiftly picked up a gold chain valued at around one lakh rupees in its beak before flying out.

Shop workers and nearby traders were left stunned as they watched the pigeon escape with the ornament. The unexpected turn of events caused momentary commotion in the market, with people rushing outside to track the bird’s movements.

Witnesses said the pigeon perched on the roof of the market building, still clutching the chain, as traders gathered below in hopes of recovering the valuable item. After several tense minutes, the chain slipped from the bird’s beak and fell onto the rooftop.

The ornament was later retrieved intact, bringing relief to the shop owner and market traders. No damage to the chain was reported, and business in the area resumed shortly after the unusual episode.
