KARACHI: A police officer allegedly shot and killed his wife at their home in Shadman Town. The suspect has been identified as Tabassum Ahmed, a member of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU).
According to police, the shooting occurred as the woman was preparing to leave the house in an online taxi booked by her daughter. CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the events leading up to the shooting.
The victim’s daughter, an eyewitness to the tragedy, told police that as her mother was getting into the vehicle, the police officer arrived and asked if she would go with him. When she refused, he allegedly opened fire. The daughter further stated that the suspect attempted to shoot her as well, but she managed to escape by running inside the house.
Initial investigations indicate that both the officer and the deceased woman were in their second marriages, and the couple had been facing marital disputes for some time, according to their children.
Police responded to the scene shortly after the incident and have launched an investigation. SSP Central confirmed that the suspect did not report for duty on the day of the shooting and stated that efforts are underway to trace and arrest him.
