BUCHIANA: A prison police officer killed his ex-wife in front of their two young daughters before taking his own life.
The tragic incident occurred when Tanveer Ahmed, who had been estranged from his wife, Shazia Bibi, for six years, broke into her home in Alvi Park, Jaranwala. Despite their divorce, Tanveer still harbored resentment and shot Shazia dead in front of their daughters. He then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.
Shazia, who had been supporting herself through tuition work, was fatally shot, leaving the children in shock. The Jaranwala police have taken the bodies to the hospital for autopsy and registered a case under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code, following a complaint from Shazia’s brother, Muhammad Shehbaz.
In the FIR, Shehbaz accused Tanveer of regularly blackmailing and threatening his sister for money after their divorce. On the day of the attack, Tanveer had demanded money from Shazia. When she refused, he shot her dead before taking his own life.
The police are continuing their investigation after completing the legal formalities.
