CM Maryam asserts she took no revenge despite political victimisation

  • Punjab CM says ‘karma did the job,’ urges tolerance and harmony across Pakistan
  • Hails Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership as Chief of Defence Forces, saying he demonstrated exceptional leadership in war against India

LONDON/LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Sunday said that “karma did the job” and that she had taken no revenge against anyone, asserting that political opponents who subjected her party to victimisation ultimately faced the consequences of their own actions.

Speaking to the media in London, she observed that “nature took revenge for that revenge,” and that the political atmosphere seemed to shift wherever her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, went.

The chief minister also expressed her deep respect for former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and questioned why the consciences of judges remained inactive when sentences were handed down against her and her family. She alleged that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had operated through “sorcery and occult practices,” implying manipulation of political outcomes.

Highlighting the leadership of the armed forces, CM Maryam Nawaz praised the appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as Chief of the Defence Forces, calling it a “strong decision” and stating that no one could match his calibre for the office. She lauded the Chief of Army Staff’s exceptional leadership in the war against India, noting that Pakistan earned global respect following the victory.

Promoting Tolerance and Mutual Understanding

On the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, Maryam Nawaz emphasized that fostering tolerance, patience, and mutual understanding among people is critical, particularly in an era marked by rising extremism and violent conflicts. She said that values such as patience and acceptance are now more important than ever, as hatred, intolerance, and discord threaten social harmony.

“The world is already entangled in numerous challenges due to rising intolerance,” the CM noted, urging citizens to pledge to make society a better place by embracing tolerance and following the path of patience. She cited the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as an example of compassion and forbearance, emphasizing that Islam advocates peace, patience, and tolerance, even toward adversaries.

Maryam Nawaz warned that negative attitudes not only undermine families but also destabilize society, stressing the importance of positive thinking and responsible behavior to counter the growing trend of intolerance. She called upon every segment of society to play its part in promoting a culture of patience, acceptance, and harmony, reaffirming her commitment to building a peaceful and progressive nation.

Condolences Over Shujaabad Traffic Accident

Meanwhile, the chief minister expressed deep grief over the tragic death of four people, including two brothers, in a road accident in Shujaabad. She extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, offering sympathy and prayers for the departed souls.

Maryam Nawaz’s remarks combined reflections on political resilience, praise for military leadership, and an appeal for social cohesion, underscoring her commitment to promoting tolerance and national stability both domestically and internationally.
