CM calls for collective action to protect ozone layer

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the ozone layer acts as a vital shield for the environment, stressing that its protection is a foremost responsibility of humanity.

In her message on the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, she warned that depletion could lead to widespread diseases, crop failures, and grave risks for future generations.

Citing the impact of climate change, she pointed to altered rainfall patterns that have already triggered devastating floods in Punjab, underscoring the urgency of sustainable action.

CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted that, for the first time, Punjab has introduced a comprehensive environmental policy to ensure a safer planet for children. She announced the launch of eco-friendly electric buses powered by clean energy to curb pollution, alongside large-scale tree plantation under the “Plant for Pakistan” campaign to improve air quality.

She added that Punjab is advancing rapidly towards green energy, solarization, and other eco-friendly initiatives. Stressing that environmental protection is not solely the government’s responsibility, she urged citizens to play their part in safeguarding air, water, and land.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed that Punjab is committed to a green, clean, and safe future—a journey that will continue with determination.
