KP allocates highest share of budget to police, says Aslam

ISLAMABAD: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has set aside the highest share of its provincial budget for police in Pakistan, according to Adviser to the Chief Minister on Finance Muzzammil Aslam.

Speaking to the media, Aslam said the K-P police budget makes up 8.7 per cent of the province’s total budget. He said this was well above Punjab’s allocation of 3.9 per cent.

Aslam said the provincial government had prioritised security despite financial limitations. He added that K-P, whose population he said was about one-third of Punjab’s and half of Sindh’s, had earmarked Rs170 billion for security in the current fiscal year.
