KARACHI: Two young brothers were tragically killed in a road accident involving a water tanker on Korangi Road in Defence on Sunday.
The victims, identified as 12-year-old Tauseef Shah and 15-year-old Ayan Shah, were residents of Korangi. Their 17-year-old cousin Tayyab survived the incident without injury. According to police, the boys were on their way to Sea View on a motorcycle when the accident occurred. Their father, who owns a meat shop near Kala Pull, confirmed that the boys were heading to Sea View.
The incident led to outrage among locals, who set the water tanker on fire in protest. Traffic police responded promptly, clearing the road after removing the burned tanker, and normal traffic was restored.
Ayan and Tauseef were laid to rest at Bagh Korangi Graveyard after funeral prayers at Hamadiya Mosque, Korangi. The grieving family shared that the boys were on their way to pick up meat for a family wedding when the tragedy struck.
SHO Defence, Hukumdad, confirmed that the driver of the tanker, Amir, who fled the scene after the incident, has been arrested, along with the tanker owner, Mumtaz. An FIR will be filed after discussions with the victims’ family.
