KARACHI: Two young men were killed when a water tanker ran over their motorcycle near Abdullah College in North Nazimabad on Tuesday.
The victims, identified as 20-year-old Muhammad Zubair and 18-year-old Ayan, were returning from Hussainabad Food Street when the accident occurred. Eyewitnesses reported that a car had given way to the motorcycle before a water tanker crushed them. Local residents, holding the driver responsible, pelted the tanker with stones and damaged its windows before the police arrived to prevent it from being set on fire. The driver was taken into police custody.
Zubair’s brother, Sarfaraz, expressed concern over the rising number of traffic accidents in the city and urged authorities to take action. Both victims were later buried after funeral prayers at a local cemetery.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a motorcyclist named Sajjad, 27, was killed near Sharafi Goth. Rescue officials initially attributed the cause of the accident to a water tanker, but further investigation by the police revealed that the death occurred after a collision with a bus on Korangi Industrial Road.
