- CM Maryam describes Albinism as part of natural diversity, not a weakness
LAHORE: Albinism is not a weakness; it is just a part of natural diversity, said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in her message on International Albinism Awareness Day.
The Punjab chief minister said, “People with albinism are the bright side of beauty; it is a social duty to respect and protect them.” She highlighted, “We want a Punjab where no one is considered inferior on the basis of skin, appearance, or birth difference.”
The chief minister said, “The scope of love, respect, and acceptance for people with albinism must be further expanded.” She added, “The Punjab government is actively working to provide complete educational and medical facilities to people with albinism and other special people.” She underscored, “It is necessary to unite and raise our voices to protect the rights of people with albinism and eliminate discrimination.”
CM Maryam Nawaz Condemns Israeli Attack on Iran
On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, while condemning the Israeli attack on Iran on Friday, said, “Israeli aggression on Iran poses a serious threat to world peace.” She regretted the martyrdom of Iranian officials in the Israeli attack and expressed sympathies with the people of Iran.
The chief minister urged the United Nations and other world organizations to take notice of the Israeli aggression against Iran.
CM Aggrieved at Loss of Lives in Chakwal Accident
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed a deep sense of grief over loss of precious human lives in a traffic accident near Chakwal. She offered sincere condolences and extended her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Information Azma Bokhari chaired an important meeting of the review committee to discuss and resolve the issues faced by journalists and to improve the media industry.
During the meeting, several key decisions were made. One of the major decisions was the relaxation of the experience requirement for obtaining a DGPR accreditation card. Now, journalists with at least five consecutive years of experience in journalism will be eligible to receive the DGPR card. Previously, the requirement was ten years of experience.
It was also informed during the meeting that as of 2025, a total of 2,725 journalists across Punjab have already been issued accreditation cards.
Furthermore, the committee decided to develop a clear and mutually agreed definition of a journalist, aiming to bring transparency to future policy-making processes.
Representatives from Lahore Press Club, CPNE, APNS, PBA, and various journalist organizations participated in the meeting and presented their views on media-related issues.
Owners and editors of newspapers assured their full cooperation with the Punjab government in eliminating dummy newspapers.
The review committee expressed appreciation to the DGPR for ensuring timely payments of government advertisements to media organizations.
