- Meeting chaired by CCPO also discusses security arrangements for Muharramul Haram
LAHORE: A high-level of the Lahore Police fine-tuned a “comprehensive plan” for the security and traffic management on Eidul Azha and the upcoming holy month of Muharramul Haram, the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana presided over a meeting held at his office to finalize the security arrangements and traffic management for Eidul Azha. The meeting’s agenda also included preliminary discussions on a comprehensive security plan for the upcoming month of Muharram.
The CCPO directed that foolproof security be ensured at venues for Eid prayers, especially at mosques, imambargahs, and playgrounds.
Highlighting the importance of traffic management, the CCPO called for a focused plan around cattle markets, important traffic arteries, and major Eid prayer venues. He stressed strict enforcement of government directives related to Eidul Azha and ordered effective measures to prevent the theft of sacrificial animals.
He emphasized the need for special attention to the well-being of policemen performing duties in extreme heat. He instructed that on-duty staff be provided with cold drinking water and sherbat to help them cope with the scorching temperatures.
Chief Traffic Officer Athar Waheed, DIG (Admin) Imran Kishwar, DIG (Investigations) Zeeshan Raza, DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran, SSP (Investigations) Muhammad Naveed, SSP (Operations) Tassawar Iqbal, SP (Dolphin) Arsalan Zahid, SP (Headquarters) Munazza Karamat and all divisional SPs attended the meeting.
To ensure public safety during the festive period, additional police staff will be deployed at public places and recreational spots, he stated. The CCPO also directed that individuals with known feuds be made to sign surety bonds to prevent any potential clashes during Eid.
Reiterating the zero-tolerance policy, the CCPO ordered a crackdown on one-wheeling and aerial firing. He directed effective action against habitual offenders involved in dangerous stunts, warning the lawbreakers would be dealt with strict legal action.
