Karachi port connection to Shahrah-e-Bhutto discussed in key meeting

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry and Special Assistant to the Sindh Chief Minister on Investment and Public Private Partnership Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar met at the Sindh Investment Department to discuss a project linking Karachi Port to Shahrah-e-Bhutto (Malir Expressway) via the Qayyumabad Interchange.

The meeting also covered plans to build a logistics park for heavy port traffic, develop seawater treatment for industrial use, and improve water supply.

Both sides agreed to arrange a meeting between the Sindh government and Karachi Port Trust to finalize the feasibility of the port-to-expressway connection.

Naveed Qamar said the project will ease the movement of heavy vehicles by providing direct access to the M-9 Superhighway, reducing traffic within the city.

The federal minister expressed his support and promised full cooperation.

Secretary Investment Sindh Raja Khurram Shahzad, Director General of the Public Private Partnership Unit Asad Zamin, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
