Woman killed in Hyderabad for exposing social evils on social media

HYDERABAD: A woman was killed and her husband, son, and father were injured in an armed attack late on Friday night in Aliabad Colony, Hyderabad. The attack is believed to be retaliation for a video posted on social media that exposed illegal betting dens in the area.

The victim, 33-year-old Fehmida Rajar, was fatally shot, while her husband Younis Rajar, 62-year-old father Rahim Bux Rajar, and 10-year-old son Misri Khan sustained gunshot injuries. Misri Khan was hit in the head, Younis in the face, and Rahim Bux in the hand. According to Younis, the family was attacked while returning from a relative’s house, and he accused local figure Ayaz Chandio and his associates of the assault.

The police have not yet registered an official case, although a suspect, Dildar Khuwaja, has been taken into custody. The incident highlights the risks faced by those exposing local corruption and social issues on social media.
