Opposition in Punjab Assembly demands release of PTI founder

LAHORE: The opposition in Punjab Assembly demanded the release of the PTI founder on Wednesday.

The assembly session started after a delay of one hour and 40 minutes with Deputy Speaker Zaheer Iqbal Channar in the chair. Opposition members displayed banners featuring the images of PTI founder within the House, chanting their demands for his release.

Opposition leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar questioned why Mian Aslam Iqbal was being stopped from entering the House. He expressed dissatisfaction over the presence of police outside and insisted that both Mian Aslam Iqbal and Ahmad Rashid Bhatti should be brought to the assembly. He said the opposition would not make any compromise.

The deputy speaker assured that Mian Aslam Iqbal was free to enter the House at any time, suggesting that he should consult the speaker house.

Bhachar advocated for the medical check-up of former chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.

Sunni Ittehad Council MPA Khayal Ahmed Kastro, while expressing his views in the assembly, said he was treated unfairly before the elections. A woman MPA from the treasury benches said things yesterday that need to be addressed, he added.

“Whether my leader is in government or not, he will not go outside. We will respond to the government in a strong manner,” said Kastro.
