Three dead, 34 injured in Swat road accidents

SWAT: At least three persons were killed including a woman and 34 others sustained critical injuries in different incidents occurred district on Thursday,

According to Kabal Police SHO Rahim Khan, one of the vehicles (Hiace) of a marriage procession going on the way to village Painda Shah from village Aligrama fell into a gorge after the driver lost control of the steering.

As a result, 29 people including women and children sustained injuries.

The locals and rescue teams evacuated the injured to Civil Hospital Kabal and later the seriously injured were shifted to Saidu Sharif teaching Hospital where a woman identified as Mst Sultana succumbed to her injuries.

On the other hand, Kalakot Police SHO Sharifullah Khan informed that 30-year-old Fazal Nawab and his father-in-law Mohammad Sherin were cutting wood in the fields with a chainsaw in Sukhara area of Tehsil Matta. In the meanwhile, the chainsaw went out of Sherin’s hand and fell on his son-in-law neck.

As a result his throat was cut and he died on the spot.

In another incident, 48-eight-year-old Shah Jahan, a Saudi-born man, fell into a deep ditch and died in Damana area. The police shifted the dead body to hospital for post-mortem and medico-legal formalities.

Apart from this, young Bakhti Rehman allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in Shawar area of Matta Tehsil. He was rushed to hospital for immediate medical assistance and the police have registered a case and started the investigation into the incident.

Similarly, five persons were injured when a pick-up loader van overturned in Nalkot area of Tehsil Matta. They were shifted to Matta Hospital for immediate medical assistance.
