- Meets British HC, vows to further strengthen bilateral ties with UK
- Says continuation of GSP Plus scheme to serve interests of both Pakistan, EU
ISLAMABAD: Underscoring the close fraternal relations between Pakistan and Iran, Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to further strengthen and deepen the ties, stressing the need for focusing on enhancing cooperation in the economic and security domains.
Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar was talking with Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Mr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam who called on him Prime Minister’s House here on Friday.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the recent inauguration of Mand-Pishin border marketplace would not only contribute to the economic uplift of the border areas but also serve as manifestation of the collective commitment to work for the betterment of brotherly people of the two countries.
Noting that President Raisi’s policy of ‘Neighborhood First’ was fully aligned with Pakistan’s vision for regional development and connectivity, the Prime Minister stressed the importance for both countries to leverage their unique geographical location to promote shared objectives of regional peace and prosperity through greater trade and enhanced regional connectivity.
The Iranian Ambassador said that Iran was keen to build on the recent positive trajectory of the bilateral relationship, especially in areas of economy, energy and security.
British HC Calls on Prime Minister
Meanwhile, the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom, Ms. Jane Marriott on Friday called on Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan and the UK have longstanding relations, saying his government would continue to further strengthen these bilateral ties. He conveyed his good wishes to His Majesty King Charles III as well as to the UK leadership.

Continuation of GSP Plus scheme in favour of Pak-EU interest
On the other hand, Caretaker Prime Minster Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Friday stressed the need for continue the GSP Plus scheme which served the interests of both Pakistan and the European Union.

The prime minister, in a meeting with EU Ambassador to Pakistan Riina Kionka who called on him, emphasized the significant role of the GSP Plus scheme in boosting Pakistan’s exports to European markets He expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan-EU ties and lauded recent progress made in this regard. Prime Minister Kakar said that his government was committed to safeguarding and upholding the rights of all its citizens. He said the government would provide constitutional continuity till the next general elections were held in the country. The EU ambassador said that the EU would continue to provide support to the Government of Pakistan and work to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
