Less than 1,000 Covid cases for second day in a row: NCOC

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan recorded less than 1,000 new cases of Covid-19 for a second consecutive day over the past 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Sunday.

The NCOC, a department leading campaign against the pandemic, said with the 720 new cases, the number of overall confirmed cases has risen to 1.2 million.

Over the past 24 hours, 1,440 patients have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1.2 million, said the NCOC.

Another 17 deaths were recorded during the period, taking the death toll to 28,269, according to the NCOC, adding that 1,958 patients are in critical condition.

Sindh is the worst-affected province by the pandemic with 465,486 infections, followed by Punjab which has reported 437,793 cases.

According to government officials, the vaccination process is in full swing in Pakistan. The government has administered 93 million doses of vaccines so far, and has fully vaccinated 34 million people, said the NCOC.
