IHC to take up cases against Sharifs

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has fixed the hearing of requests filed by deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her husband retired Capt. Safdar Awan for May 25.

According to the cause list released by the IHC registrar office on Saturday, the court will take up the petitions in Al-Azizia Steel Mills, Avenfield House, and Flagship Investment (Pvt.) Ltd. references.

IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar will hear the cases.

It will be decided in the hearing who will be the pleader for PML-N supreme leader who has been declared absconder in the said references.

Sharif, Maryam and Safdar have challenged their convictions in the Avenfield reference while Sharif has also appealed his conviction in the Al-Azizia case.

The National Accountability Bureau has submitted an appeal for an increase in the prison terms for the guilty in the two references.

The anti-graft body also appealed for the release of those involved in Flagship reference.
